Returning back to the story, this episode had two sub-plots. The first involved a parody of The Ring when Nagi rents a bootleg of a cursed movie that releases a… giant cockroach into the real world. Maria is deathly afraid of the buggers and we see the usually calm and collected maid recoil in fear at the mere mention of them. Hayate fights for Maria, but she finally stands up to it when Hayate goes down for the count. When it runs back to the mansion for Nagi, Isumi finishes it off with one of her seals.
The second plot centered around Wataru buying a birthday present for Saki who had seemed a bit down since the beginning of the episode. He talks to Nagi about buying a special gift for a girl, and she thinks that it will be a present for Isumi instead of Saki. Isumi comes over to Wataru’s house upon hearing this from Nagi. A flustered Wataru is forced to give her a makeshift gift in the form of a DVD box set. Saki soon comes back home and gets a nice Yukata as a late birthday gift. To wrap everything up, everyone goes to a summer festival to enjoy the fireworks and the night stalls. Next week, Hamster vs. Dragon!
