We start with a flashback to two years ago a day or two after the fateful shuttle crash. A news broadcast relays the incident as we see a younger Professor Kitajima stumble across a dragon in a field. She recognizes it to be Atrum. As she lays her hand on the dragon, it emits a bright light that forces her to avert her eyes. As she turns to look at it again, it is now gone.
Jin awakens on the beach remembering Toa’s farewell from the previous episode. He sees Gio standing on a nearby cliff who soon takes notice of Jin’s presence. Back at the ISDA, the Dragonauts and Communicators minus Liner lament the heartless order of Spirytus’ death with Howling Star taking it the hardest. Liner enters the room and informs the unit that they will resume their search for Jin and Gio. Kazuki continues to mope because Jin stole Gio away from him.
The Lindwurm unit begins their search for Jin and Gio by land, sea, and air quite literally. The ISDA officials have a meeting pertaining to the disclosure of last night’s battle and the existence of the D-Project. On the beach Jin and Gio talk about their respective relationships to Toa. Gio says that he was born to protect her, but Jin is left speechless as he ponders the question. Jin hears a singing voice that he quickly recognizes to be Toa. He turns to Gio who apparently cannot hear the song and tells him that Toa is on the moon.
Akira and Machina find Jin and Gio with the latter holding the former captive. Jin puts up a fuss as Akira approaches them. Gio releases Jin and reveals that he was just using him. They are taken into ISDA custody. Gio is debriefed by Commander Sakaki and then escorted to Professor Kitajima by a pair of armed guards. Meanwhile Jin is being interogated by Akira who tries her best to be friendly with him.
Gio turns on the guards and easily renders them unconscious. Jin tells Akira that he just wanted to see Toa and to know what he meant to her before an alarm suddenly begins to blare. Akira and Machina move quickly to intercept him when Akira suddenly has an epiphany that the two were working together from the start and double backs to the interrogation room. She discovers that Jin is gone and the guard stationed there has been knocked out.
Flashback to the scene at the beach. Jin tells Gio that they need to go to the moon. Gio tells Jin that if she isn’t there then their partnership is over. Before they can leave however, Jin decides that they need to infiltrate the ISDA headquarters for something important. Back to the present, Jin gains access to a storage garage only to be stopped in his tracks by Akira. Gio continues to plow through the guards Dynasty Warriors style until Machina shows up hot on his trail. As Akira continues the interrogation with Jin, she inadvertently reveals too much information about Resonance and dragons.
The battle between Gio and Machina is taken outside as they burst out of the complex. Akira steadies her hand on the trigger to apparently kill Jin but is stopped when the elevator shaft crashes behind her, giving Jin the opportunity to steal an armored vehicle and escape. The fight between the two dragons comes to a standstill; Machina asks why Gio is acting the way he is. He responds by asserting his independence and free will. Jin suits up in a space suit as he plans to rendezvous with Gio. The armored vehicle veers off the cliff, and Machina is forced to leap to safety with Akira. Gio Actualizes into his dragon form, while the vehicle’s trailer opens up and releases a pod with Jin inside of it. The pod merges with Gio and the two of them begin their ascent into space.
Jin’s words echo through Akira’s mind and she stops Machina from giving pursuit. The Gillard army watches them on their radar knowing that their destination is the moon. A dismayed Kazuki is grieving the loss of Gio… Again. A piano player in the lounge watches as he is patronized by some fellow military members. As Jin ascends higher into the atmosphere, he looks down at the scenic Earth that he should have seen two years ago. Kazuki is in a back alley recovering from a lost fight. The piano player from the bar offers him a helping hand…
Lots of fanservice boob shots in this episode. Jin proves that he is smarter than Kazuki with his ruse to infiltrate the ISDA with Gio. The fight was pretty cool as we get a small sample of Gio’s fighting prowess. Akira starts to question the relationship between Master and dragon. Kazuki meets his new dragon (?). The action really skipped around a lot so I hope the synopsis wasn’t too confusing.
