I got a bit tired of the harsh, bright orange of the previous layout so I switched to something a bit more subdued. The banner girl is the lovely Aono Morimiya from the anime/manga Sola. Hope you enjoy the new layout.
Archive for October, 2007We begin the episode with a little insight into Tamaki’s past as it is revealed that she is a fan of the long running hot-blooded sentai superhero show Blade Braver. Resuming from the last episode, Toyama challenges Tamaki to a kendo “duel”. Tamaki suits up in one of the club’s spare outfits, but the hakama is too long due to her unusual short stature. Kirino suggests that the duel be put off until Tamaki can suit up in her own gear, but the latter decides to proceed with the match. Miyako and Eika try to sneak away in the meantime only to to have an agitated Toyama threaten them to stay for the match. In the teachers’ lounge, Nakata recounts a story from his childhood to Kojiro-sensei. The young Tamaki that fancied herself a hero of justice saved Nakata and his friends from a group of bullies during a fight that had gotten out of hand. Tags: bamboo bladeWatch me as I stealthily sneak a post onto the blog later. For my next trick I’ll destroy a gigantic Metal Gear on foot while discussing existential philosophy with ninja cyborgs. Now that nearly all the shows are in full swing, I guess I’ll update you guys on what I’ll be blogging, watching, and dropping. Blogging: Watching: On hold until I catch up: Drop it like it’s hot: Drop it like it’s cold: What meu will be doing: In a private chamber, Anzelotte communicates Shihou’s progress with her superior whom she addresses as her god, Gazer. Meanwhile the Night Wizards make short work of the golems in Magallanica now that they know how to defeat the monsters. The team enters an elaborate temple where Shihou senses the jewel to be located. Renji takes point and seemingly activates any and every trap that has been laid out. After progressing for a while, they decide to take a break while Akari keeps watch. Shihou brings a cup of tea to Akari and formally introduces herself to the stoic gunner. Renji as always badmouths Anzelotte when her name comes up in conversation, and he is struck by another trap while reaching for an onigiri that fell on the floor. They resume the jewel hunt, but Laalamuu is already in the chamber where the jewel is located. She reaches for it but a powerful barrier repels her away. Tags: night wizardUsui, the balding student with a bad comb-over, begins the episode by narrating his life up until now along with a glimpse of his scrapbook. Ever since he was born he had a problem of never being noticed, but he hoped to turn his luck around in high school by becoming the class representative of Itoshiki’s class… While walking outside, he bumps into someone that doesn’t notice him. He is then hit by a truck whose driver remains oblivious to his existence. Itoshiki walks by and bumps into Kafuka and Chiri-chan. He starts discussing the lives of inconspicuous people that live in the shadows as outcasts; Such as Mr. Curie who was overshadowed by his wife Madame Curie, and subsequently forgotten. Chiri-chan agrees with his argument, further discouraging Usui, as they remain oblivious of his presence. As Itoshiki further emphasizes his claim with more examples, he sends himself into a fit of despair at how society can allow great achievements to be overshadowed and forgotten. Usui is still forgotten as the group walks away to continue the conversation elsewhere. Tags: sayonara zetsubou senseiMore fansub changes. Anzelotto has been changed to Anzelotte, and Elis is now Eris. Shihou’s class is introduced to a “new” student; Renji Hiiragi. The students in the class whisper disparaging things about him much to his annoyance. Before we get back to that, Shihou thinks back to the previous day that led to this event. Picking up from the end of episode 1, Anzelotte explains various things about her cause and a few details about magic. The monsters invading the world are from a world called Rikai. Many monsters from human legends such as dragons, vampires, and demons all originated from Rikai. Anzelotte further explains that science is useless to combat the Emulators; Only the magic wielding wizards are able to defeat them. She tells Shihou about the nature of the artifact bracelet, named Eyes of World. Shihou is also informed of her Lunar Robe ability which acts as a barrier and pocket plane. Kureha demonstrates by pulling a paper fan from out of nowhere. Anzelotte lays out the details of her plan to invade Rikai, but in order to do so they need Shihou and the seven gems that belong to her bracelet. With her power they can open a portal to Rikai to launch their attack. The seven gems are conveniently scattered across the globe, and it is up to the gang to get all of them. The jewels also have a long history of war behind them as many others strove to attain their power as well. Shihou is told that she alone possesses the power to detect and recover the jewels. Great. Anzelotte “persuades” Shihou to help and she more than willingly obliges. Shihou reasons that she was given this power for a reason and she must use it to save the world. “According to rumours on the Net, a few years ago, an Encoder tried to devastate the Space. But nobody knows what happened to this encoder.” Dennou Coil continues to up the ante as the gray-clothed girl, identified to be an Encoder-level hacker, unexpectedly joins Yuko and Fumie’s own class. In fact, it turns out that she also has the name of Yuko, rather, Yuko Amasawa. A creepy coincidence, or is something afoot? Herein, Yuko Okonogi will be referred to by her nickname of Yasako to avoid confusion. Dennou Coil Episode Five - The Hacker’s Club Fumie and Yasako quietly discuss the possibilities of what may have made Yuko appear in this town, guessing that her parents might belong to some glasses company. Fumie notes that Encoders are enigmatic individuals, and no one is really sure what they’re up to. Yasako voices her assumption that Encoders were only after metabugs, to which Fumie says that it’s not often the case. As an example, she informs Yasako about the urban rumour of Miss Michiko, a mysterious entity on the internet who grants wishes. Eventually, the two decide to try to worm some information out of her… First hand. Unfortunately, Yuko Amasawa isn’t really very sociable. Fumie doesn’t really help things by noting the similarities of the two Yuko’s names and bestowing upon the other Yuko the nickname of “Isako.” Isako and Yasako. “Brave Girl” and “Gentle Girl”, so to speak. Isako gives them the cold shoulder while giving them curt replies. She doesn’t appear to acknowledge her stealing of Densuke from the previous episodes, as well, but further prodding reveals she simply doesn’t care about what they think about it. That’s when Daichi comes in and tries inviting Isako into his club. This causes a ruckus between Daichi and Fumie, causing Isako to flare up and tell both of them off. Tags: Dennou CoilPreface: The fansub group, Infinite-Zero, begin the episode with some name translations. Alwurm is retranslated as Album, meaning white in Latin. The busty communicator with blue-ish hair is Machina now. Onto the episode now eh? Commander Sakaki receives a transmission from his superior officer, Mr. Kiril, who is furious at the appearance of the dragons in the city. Kiril dispatches the Gillard Army to deal with the situation. The Lindwurm unit and their communicators soon arrive at the scene and Liner makes a comment about Album being one of the original three. Toa manages to calm Spirytus down, but the Gillard army’s choppers attack the dragons, causing Spirytus to go into a rage again. Spirytus shoots down several choppers with energy blasts and one of them spirals towards Jin who is watching helplessly on the ground. Toa rushes in to place a barrier around the chopper, making it descend to the ground gently. She then immobilizes all of the remaining helicopters as well as Spirytus and rushes away with the dragon in tow. Kiril grants permission for the ISDA to actualize their communicators. Things get a bit freaky here because Howling Star, Machina, and Amadeus transform into mech dragons. The humans hop into the cockpits and give pursuit of Toa and Spirytus. They have little trouble catching up and another battle ensues. Spirytus goes berserk again and one of his stray blasts hits Toa. The tremors of the battle awaken Gio who rushes outside to join the battle. As Jin yells at Kazuki to stop the battle, Toa crashes next to them. She tries to approach him, but she sees that Jin is frightened by her appearance and she takes off again. Gio appears from out of nowhere and transforms into a dragon to follow Toa. Jin hops onto Gio’s back as they rush to the battle. Liner receives the order to kill Spirytus from Sakaki. Howling Star uses a powerful drill technique to cut Spirytus in half. Gio catches up to Toa and Jin reaches his hand out to her. He has an illusion where he is lying in a field and Toa can be heard singing. He gets up and calls to her. She doesn’t turn around and tells him that since he has seen her true form that she must leave. She leaves with Gio who swears to protect her. Jin is thrown off Gio’s back and falls into the sea, feeling helpless as Toa disappears. After the evening events, Sakaki returns home and sees the mass media coverage of the dragon battle, the destruction left in its wake, and the link to the ISDA. Drills sure have gotten popular lately. We are left wondering what will become of the relationship between Jin and Toa. Gio will probably a potential love rival or something of the sort. It also looks like Jin will be going into space next time. Stay tuned for next week’s episode. Tags: dragonautI just checked up on the gaming news today and one thing really caught my eye over at Kotaku. Okami is going to get a Wii port. *Cue girly scream of joy* Waiting until 2008 is going to be an eternity. I’m adding to my list of must buy games. If you have a Wii, it would be a crime not to. Anyway, expect an animu post later tonight or tomorrow. |
