And it needs to cover Ecole du Ciel. This will probably piss off the Seed and 00 fanboyz, but it needed to be said. Come on Sunrise. Stop appeasing the yaoi fangirls by creating stories with super androgynous men that have vaguely homoerotic relationships with one another. The current generation of Gundam gals aren’t much better either. I miss our Saylas, Emmas, and Ainas.
Ecole du Ciel is a manga side story of sorts set between 0083 and Zeta from the perspective of a genetically engineered Newtype. I’ll admit that the first two volumes of the manga really start out like a shoujo, which will off put the testosterone-filled action maniacs, but the story is so much better than what Gundam is currently spewing out. There are enough volumes out to support a 26 episode run. I know these words will fall on deaf ears (i.e. Sunrise), but I have to rant. If you like Gundam and haven’t checked out Ecole du Ciel yet, you must do it or I will write your name in my Desu Note.

I completly agree with you, Ecole du Ciel is a wonderfull story that has restore a lot of the credibility that the gundam series has lost in to my eyes, i might be under fire from a lot, by fanboys-girls, but to me seed was horrible so to speak, a fanboy-girls galore, after the first 26 ep the producers dedicaded themselfs to please fanboyism than actually put a decent story, ansd yes i now that fans are the ones who made or destroy a franchise, but a really good director nows how to achive both, please the fans with out selling his-her vision of the story, i guess that why tomino was really sucsessfull in that the departament, the man didn’t give a s@#!$$ about anything and stood true to his vision, and the fans still love him(or hate him which to me is the same lol) and today i still think that the gundam series under his wing are the best, unlike seed which pretty much was run by the otakus over there, heek!!! i think wing is somewhat bad, Ecole du Ciel would be a wonderfull change, i am getting tired of emo males teens saving the world, and don’t get me started with the femeles counter parts of those emo boys they are a equally bad. and i have to quote you on that ” I miss our Saylas, Emmas, and Ainas.” oh well is just my to cents in this matter -_-; now *runs away from wing-seed fanboy_girls*. ps sorry for my bad english, not my first language X.x; .

you should go look at the mistakesofyouth blog. He has a lot of pro-Uc rants lately. I doubt he’d like this manga, though, heh.
As for me, I’ve never liked a Gundam show, but that lil piece of art above is downrigt amazing.

I’ll admit that I do have a UC bias. I’d say my reasoning is because everything from Seed on is just so sloppily written and shallow.
It’s a shame that Ecole du Ciel will probably never see an adaptation. It’s a safe bet to say that Sunrise is done with UC.

Done with UC when it comes to fifty-episode shows, at least; they’re still knocking out OVAs (IGLOO’s getting new, Feddie-centric episodes soon, I heard) as they are with VOTOMS. Personally I think the Universal Century is too crowded for a new, full-length story, but I’d be happy to see some Alternate Universe stuff which was stylistically and thematically like the UC. Not that it would sell.
Ecole du Ciel’s great, but I’m sure you’ve noticed that Sunrise don’t like to adapt Gundam anime to manga, or manga to anime . . . and if they ever do decide to adapt a Gundam manga, Crossbone should be their first choice. What could be better than (canon UC) pirate Gundams?

At this point, the story of UC is effectively done. They’re filling in some gaps with IGLOO, and based on what I’ve seen of it, I’d love for them to make more OYW series with IGLOO’s CGI.
Another reason that Crossbone is more likely than Ecole is its place in the overarching plotline of UC, whereas Ecole, thus far, is more sidestory material.
