The dreaded filler post is back with a vengeance. Yuri makes everything better though. I’m working on a few articles slowly but surely, and I think Bound has something up his sleeve too. For all our US readers, have a happy long weekend. For everyone else, have a happy normal Monday.

Well, what can I say? The past few weeks (More like, month(s)) have been a blitz of gaming and all sorts of stuff. Stuff like the Orange Box (Damn Portal and it’s damn addictingness, also damn it’s impossible achievements) and, well, Bioshock. Tags: bioshock3 years before the present, Liner and Jin’s father share a conversation over a cup of coffee. Liner inquires why Mr. Kamishina is letting his skills go to waste when he could do so much more. Mr. Kamishina simply replies that he has something to protect. Our peek at their conversation cuts off when Liner asks if Mr. Kamishina is familiar with the D-Project and the Dragonauts. Tamaki brings her back to reality with a couple strikes that leave Mei in awe of Tama’s skill. Tama gives Mei some instructions during the warm-up practice, but Mei’s aim is slightly off when she strikes the bare part of Tama’s arm. The two formally introduce themselves and Mei, now a full-fledged Tama fangirl, requests to be hit by Tamaki some more. Upon seeing Tama’s prowess, the other Seimei girls volunteer their bodies as punching bags too. Tags: bamboo bladeI’m still sitting around having tea and crumpets. These long days are really taking their toll on me. There should be an update later. How soon remains to be seen. There’s always some news to talk about in the meantime. The Winter season is underway and as expected, most of the offerings are average at best. Nothing has truly rocked my soul so far except for Zoku Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei. I except things will pick up for the other shows down the line, but I really don’t have the patience to stick around for them to get better. Let’s look on ye olde game front now. Super Smash Bros Brawl is delayed. Big surprise. General gaming has been on hiatus for me these days, so the delay doesn’t upset me. Hmmm. Yeah. I’ll be going into standby mode now. It’s time to stop procrastinating and jump back into things. I’ve really been slacking on updates lately. So here’s what’s on the queue. Finish up Night Wizard summaries en masse, catch up on Dragonaut and Bamboo Blade, write about the first episode of Zetsubou season 2, post a couple articles that have been 75% finished for a month, and maybe do a couple figure reviews. It sure does sound like a lot to do on my limited time budget. I may just have to pull out the Unlimited Blogger Works (aka outsourcing) to get all this done. Hold out hope and believe in me, who believes in Myself; Yourself. Speaking of which, I would totally buy the Myself; Yourself game if I understood a lick of Japanese. I have a feeling a number of readers of this blog from North America will recall the years of yore when the anime invasion hit our shores. Those were the days when Cartoon Network began broadcasting its Toonami block on weekday afternoons, hosted by Moltar of Space Ghost fame, consisting of, among other classic shows, Thundercats, Voltron, and The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest. Over the next three years young American minds got their first taste of anime, and boy did we eat it up. Though some of it never really struck my fancy (Ronin Warriors? Seriously?) I ate up the early mecha anime on Toonami. Perhaps the biggest impression was made by Gundam Wing. And recently, as I go back through (rather extensive) list of anime that one internet hivemind deemed worth watching, Gundam Wing’s name came up in my hard drive. It was time for a walk down memory lane, to see how those heroes, villains, and giant robots stood up to the test of time and nostalgia.
Visual novels carry a negative connotation to the uninformed anime fans in the west. Just saying the word immediately conjurs up associations to hentai. While it is true that bishoujo/eroge games are visual novels, not all visual novels are bishoujo/eroge. Imagine visual novels as a big circle. A smaller circle for bishoujo games is nested in the visual novel circle. Likewise, an even smaller eroge circle is embedded in the bishoujo circle. Hope that explains my point adequately. The picture says it all. The sad thing is that this only the halfway point of the first week. This is going to be one of those semesters. 15 and a half more weeks to go until it’s over. I’ll try to post something nice on Friday. No guarantees though. I need… HEEEEEEEEEEEELP! … … … Those Elite Beat Agents are never there when I need them. Back to the grindstone then. Danny Choo and Goodsmile Company want to know your top five most wanted figures. Here’s the original link if you live under a rock and haven’t seen the post yet. Just for this article’s sake, let’s hypothetically extend the offer to Max Factory and Alter just to be fair. |
