While browsing the early list of fall shows, nothing pops out at me besides Clannad: After Story, Toradora!, and maybe ef - a tale of melodies. Anticipation for Clannad is very high. Toradora is yet another light novel with the tired ‘guy meets girl/s’ premise (Haruhi, Shana, Zero no Tsukaima, Haruka Nogizaka) but hey, I’m a sucker for these. I may check out the next iteration of ef if Miyako Miyamura either gets no screen time or drops dead. Ugh. Damn Miyako.
I see a bunch of sequels to shows I didn’t watch or dropped, so those are automatically off my list. Let’s cross off Jigoku Shoujo, Gundam 00, Rosario to Vampire, Junjou Romantica, Nodame Cantabile, and Vampire Knight. I may pick up and finish the first season of Nodame Cantabile in time to see the sequel, so that omission isn’t set in stone. The rest still get a very apathetic shrug. So what else does that leave us with? Not much. Aside from all the sequels that loyal fans will watch no matter what, the new shows aren’t exactly awe inspiring. Fall season is supposed to be, you know, more exciting than this.

I didn’t realize that Nodame Cantible had another season. Maybe I heard about it but forgot. I’d like to see that because I did enjoy the first season.
@Scott: Nodame Cantabile is one of those shows that everyone recommends but I don’t bother watching until well after it ends. I have to sit down and watch it before my schedule gets crazy again. One more show for the backlog.
The only things I’m truly looking forward to are the third season of Jigoku Shoujo and Clannad: After Story… and some trashy, evil portion of my being wants to see the second half of Junjou Romantica. I’ll watch Vampire Knight’s second season, but I’m not pissing my pants in anticipation over it.

Clannad and ~ef~ are good enough to keep me happy come fall.

But… where is Haruhi?
o.O

I thought this season was pretty much boring as well
Next season seems to be a bombardment of sequels. Anyways, I find it’s ridiculously useless to try to be excited/non-excited about a season lineup before it actually starts. False expectations can be such a bitch -_-”

Lucky Star and Clannad are on my list - no need to elaborate.
I might pick up Yozakura Quartet, mainly because I’m currently following the manga. (Which is as confusing as heck - but hey, the artwork’s some of the best I’ve seen in a while. I’m hoping the anime adaptation will clear things up a bit.)
I’ll wait for the detailed preview write-ups to start leaking more info before I make a decision on the rest. But you’re right, there doesn’t seem to be anything worth getting excited about (apart from the ones I just mentioned).

@Day Without Me: A part of me regrets dropping Jigoku Shoujo but the premise never clicked with me. Mamiko Noto is awesome as Enmai Ai though. No comment on watching trashy shows since I’m watching Strike Witches and Koihime Musou.
@C.I.: Definitely looking forward to After Story like you are.
@Teeif: Haruhi is MIA because KyoAni is animating Clannad for the Fall season. I’d expect to see Haruhi surface again in Spring 09.
@Blissmo: I rather liked the Summer lineup. It got me more excited than what’s currently set to air in Fall anyway.
@Issa-sa: Hmmm. Good point but there should still be more shows that look cool at a passing glance without knowing what they’re about.
@Diego: The Fall previews will probably persuade me to check out a couple more shows that sound interesting. There are bound to be some gems in the lineup besides Clannad and other big sequels.
Forget about the fall. Enjoy the present! I don’t decide which shows I’m watching until they’re already released.

It’s called the ‘fall’ season for a reason.
Zing.
I don’t know about uninteresting but there are a lot of sequels on the list; Vampire knights, Nodame, Gundam and Tora Dora (yes its not a sequel but its good, no? xD). Those, added to the stuff I already watch should be more than enough to keep me occupied through fall.
Wait, I got Isumi?! SWEET! =D

@Baka: Yeah. I saw that chart you use to pick your shows each season.
@Meu: What a twist!
@Ez: Isumi is <3.
Another vote for Nodame!! Watch the first 2 episodes and you will be hooked (I was anyway). I’m so psyched for the 2nd season :).

The first season of Nodame was awesome, I dont see how the second season will even compare.
I’m looking forward to
Toaru Majutsu no Index - Hm..the manga has just barely scraped the story. It seems interesting so far. And its side story Toaru Majutsu no Railgun is very good too.
Ga-Rei - The manga is very good. One of the better shounen mangas out there.
Kannagi - I was waiting for an anime version of this manga since a long time ago.
Shikabane Hime - The manga has just been scanlated. Its quite good so far.
Xamdou - has already been released, in fact it is one of the best shows this season.
Skip Beat - One of the best shoujo manga i’ve read. Definitely a must watch
All above is available in manga and chapters has been scanlated.
How can you forget about Kyou Go No Ni? The OAV was awesome.
