@Yamcha: This might be the first world leader who releases his political memoirs in manga form. I vote for Obata Takeshi as principal artist. (Unless he wants to go shoujo, that is – perhaps to appeal to the female electorate?)

@C.I.: Tsundere. (^_^) Yeah, there’s likely to be some concern over Asou’s plan for Japan to spend its way towards an economic recovery, and – as you pointed out – his foreign policy views. On the first matter, doing anything that adds to Japan’s already bloated public debt isn’t necessarily a good idea; on the second matter, his comments over the past few years haven’t exactly inspired confidence among those seeking to improve relations with Japan’s neighbours. (I rather like the fellow, but even I’ve had a few WTF reactions after reading some of his remarks.) As always, it’s best to wait and see.

I’m actually a bit worried about what his appointment as PM will do for Japan-China relations, the two have been tsundere up till now, ever since Shinzo Abe.

Taso Aro’s a nationalist very sympathetic to the imperialistic school of thought, the fact that he’s Right-Wing is no more unsettling. You do NOT pay a visit to the Yasukuni shrine where the War criminals responsible for Nanjing are buried while china’s watching.

Still, he has stated his primary goal is economic restructuring…so…well….yeah, you never know.
