As you knowledgeable folk may know, this DVD/postcard cover here has been the source of some speculation when it first appeared – Was it Dio back from the dead? Some other guy? Rebellious artist retcon? Yamcha pulling some dirty tricks on us? The possibilities were endless.
I was randomly perusing some boards found via google today when I came across a bunch of tidbits someone wrote up taken from the Last Exile Aerial Log artbook. So apparently someone asked the creators what the heck was up with this picture. From what was gathered, apparently you-know-who was picked up by some other guild member (“Kokinela”? I don’t recognize this name…) after his great fall into oblivion.
…At least it beats the “Hang-glider guilder suit” theory.

I remember reading about that a few years back – I was torn over it, as I really liked Dio, but it was seriously anticlimactic… and it still meant that Luciola was dead – total fail.
