Two Fall 08 Endings That Surprised Me for Better and Worse

Incest is the best. Put Minato to the test.
Better: Akane Iro ni Somaru Saka
lolwut Minato end. I was not expecting Junichi to choose his sister after all that character development with the main heroine, Yuuhi. Aka Saka does have a Minato route but man was this unexpected. So the Yuuhi route was just a giant red herring that the writers collectively slapped in our faces. Well done writers for keeping me on my toes. Though I don’t agree with this choice in itself, I love it when harem/h-game adaptations give us unexpected endings.
The Minato end was unexpected but it didn’t totally come out of left field with little hints here and there that Junichi really wanted to bed Minato. It was always Minato that would come along in a sexy outfit and Yuuhi would have to knock some sense into him like the violent Rie Kugimiya voiced tsundere she is. Are Junichi and Minato really blood related? According to the game the anwer is yes, but the anime makes things much more vague. I guess we can judge for ourselves. The Minato end makes the entire show and the build up with Yuuhi a moot point, but I still thought this was a good surprise. Somehow it felt like the writers said amongst themselves, “Screw the fans, a Minato end will get those stinky otaku blogging!”. Oh and look, it has.

Worse: Chaos;Head
One of the worst endings I’ve seen in a while, but at least Kozu-pii was moe.
Chaos;Head was a macrocosm of disappointment, ultimately leading to an anticlimactic and unsatisfying ending. After a fierce psychological battle with his nemesis, Norose, a battered Takumi finds himself back in the ruins of Shibuya with his lovely harem of psychologically scarred ladies. He then uses his delusion to rebuild Shibuya… And then end credits roll. What. No epilogue? No ending narration telling us what happens in the aftermath? Not even a thanks for watching or anything? I feel insulted.
The harem school life delusion Takumi had during the fight with Norose would have been a perfect ending… Screw you, Chaos;Head writers. The least you could have done was to at least pull out a half-assed Takumi lives happily ever after with Rimi ending. At least that would have been a proper ending. Chaos;Head, you have lost the game.

I didn’t watch Akane but Chaos;Head was a failed hybrid of NHK ni yohkoso and Higurashi.

For a moment, I thought his pants were a mental extension of his tie o.o;;
