Lately it feels like I haven’t been watching as much anime as an anime blogger should, so I’m curious to see how much anime other fans watch, from the aniblogging community to casual/average fans. I don’t think I’ve fallen off the bandwagon, because my anime viewing always decreases as a semester drags on. Of course adding a good RPG to the equation doesn’t help either, as I’m more of a gamer at heart, and a good game will override watching anime. There are often times that I don’t watch anything for several days, so my estimate is probably 2-3 hours a week when busy (or when a good RPG gets most of my free time) and 6-7 when not busy. So my big question is how much anime do you guys watch?

I am kinda of in ur position right now been playing this game for a while and it has taken away my time from watching anime, so right now i only watch about 2 -3 hours a week like u, however before the game i use to watch like 24 hours a week of anime sometimes more, but then when i caught up with watching all the anime from the past that i missed and got to the point i had to wait for new ones to come out, then it was like 10- 15 hours a week… still a lot i guess. well playing game and watching anime pretty much the same time both takes away time from u.

  2. Hmm. Interesting one, I haven’t thought about this before. I suppose I must go through an average of three episodes a day. I usually skip openings and endings, so I suppose each episode might be around 20 minutes of watching. About an hour a day, then. A bit more at weekends, and less when I have deadlines coming up.

  3. Compared to a lot of bloggers, I probably don’t watch very much. Since I generally only follow 2-3 series as they air, my weekly consumption is about that many episodes. Instead, I tend to binge-watch many series, so my consumption over longer holidays will be anywhere between 3-10 series, depending on how many recommendations I have sitting around. Over December, I watched something like 8 series, 5 OAVs, and a handful of other things I ended up dropping. Now with classes in session, I’m just following my weekly Soul Eater and 00 since I dropped Kurokami (both of which are about to end, but I’ll be picking up FMA and Shangri-La to replace them).

  4. 1-4 hrs is the general amount of how anime watching would go on a normal week for me. As real life goes, and watching other forms of media – anime watching does get fallen by the way side. I only watch one or two series, and even then on occasions I wait until I get a batch to binge watch. Hence the direction of my blog writing has been on and off somewhat. Anime blogging is about blogging anime yes, but as the purpose of your interest change, you extend it to include other fandoms if possible.

  5. The last two seasons I’m averaging about 10 hours of anime a week between watching the new shows and rewatching older stuff with my younger sister. I’ll probably be watching less once the spring season starts since I don’t think there’ll be as many good shows. And at some point, I’ll feel like picking up video games again; I haven’t played much of anything over the last year or two.

  6. I usually watch them all one shot on Wednesdays, most of my anime comes out during the weekends or early weekdays and during the weekends or even weekday nights my connection is too lousy to even get them.

Probably an average of 8 episodes per week on a regular basis, more if a slow series gets released in one shot. This does not include any backlogged series or even backlogged current series, like Erin. :\

I also rewatch episodes twice, thanks to raws and subs, for certain series.

  7. For me, usually a couple hours a night, mainly because it’s become a family tradition (well, among us children anyway :D ). When I start attending college, I hope for that to continue, though I’m flexible to rethink schedules if studies get tough.

  8. Usually no more than an hour (2-3 episodes’ worth) every couple of days or so, and that’s pretty much the high end – not from a lack of enthusiasm for anime in general but simply because so few series pique my interest these days. From time to time, I find myself watching no more than two hours of anime in an entire week.

On the other hand, whenever I order boxsets of series I’ve never seen before, I tend to plunge into marathon sessions that temporarily take my daily dose up to three hours and beyond.

  9. Thanks for the replies so far everyone. I noticed some of you talked about binge watching, and it’s something I don’t usually do but know quite a few people that do it. It’s just my opinion that you can’t fully absorb a whole show’s experience when you’re doing it in 8 episode shots. If I’m watching a backlogged or older show on DVD, I usually watch two eps at a time and stop to reflect, contemplate and speculate on the story. Maybe that’s just a habit of an anime slowpoke though. :)

  11. I don´t have a set amount of time I spend on anime. Sometimes I marathon a series or two. Usually when I´m sick or have lots of free time.

Today I´ve watched 0min of anime. I might watch some later on to spend time before I go to bed or untill the download that I´m waiting for is ready.

Playing a good game is always nice. Espacially RPGs take up so much time everything else is punished. I need to start playing some games. Or at least try them out somehow.

If we just go for what we want for the day everything will be alright :)

  12. Ever since arriving in Australia? Almost none. Really.

  13. I probably spend around 2~4 hours since I don’t have that many shows to watch. For now, it’ll be just as many, but I’ll be putting more importance on playing visual novels this vacation time.

  15. Usually I watch anime “hardcore”. That is I’ll spend almost every single minute or whatever watching anime unless of course I need to do something like go to the bathroom, shower, eat, or sleep. Hahaha.

Anyway, until the other day it had been a looong stretch without anime. I have The Sims 2 and it was a lot of fun (when it worked) but then my stupid virus ridden computer went crazy so I had to do a system recovery instead of a simple system restore. It was a major pain and I wanted to tear my hair out but I got through it. So happy my system is doing good again. On the downside I need to do something about my ram situation because I apparently have too much crap on my computer and The Sims 2 stopped working. When I tried a delete plus reinstall it said I don’t have enough room for it. Meh. Next time I get Sims 2 going it’s probably going to be the main thing in my life again, heh. For me, it’s just that cool/fun. But, I am going to take a long break from it not just because of technical issues but because I miss doing other things I used to do, like watch anime.
