Wow i would have to say this is getting a little too retarded. This is a great political and action based anime. (very lil comedy) . That funny stuff you see is the actual character. Like the lil princess and fan. These are their traits that make them seem more human to the viewer. Where in the world can a person live without humor. Sorry if i was running for my life or lived in that type of setting i would crack jokes or act like an idiot just to keep myself from going insane. But besides that i think this has the making of an amazing anime can't wait for season two.

Oh and i would have to say that Jouslain is more of Fan's equal not his opposite. But idris fits more of the yin to Jouslain yang. Sorry but Fan and Jouslain both fight for noble purposes while Idris does not. So you need opposites for that yin yang theory to fit. being on opposing sides doesn't make you opposite in character. I think when they looked at each other in the last episode it was like looking into themselves and seeing their similarities. Which prolly scared both of them a lil since they are enemies right now.

don't agree or do still a great anime

@Panther: Tytania is more like a Cao Wei, and Fan's faction is Shu Han. I should have specified that a little more. Anyway I made the Shu character comparisons because they're much more prominent than the majority of Wei and Wu characters. I could have said Ariabert was a Zhang Liao, but then it's harder to get the point across unless you've read all the whopping RoTK novels.

Upon thinking about Zarlish further, and I think he's more of a Guan Yu/Zhang Fei hybrid due to how he blends Guan Yu's valiance and Zhang Fei's headstrong nature. I can only see Ariabert as Guan Yu due to how prideful Guan Yu was, but to me Ariabert is more "balanced" between war and intelligence like Zhao Yun. Perhaps if Ariabert grew an epic beard I'd be more inclined to think of him as Guan Yu. Jouslain is a strategist and the brightest mind in the show, so right away I thought of him as Zhuge Liang. Furthermore, Jouslain taking Bal'ami under his wing was a lot like Zhuge Liang training Jiang Wei as his protege.

@Roy: Tytania is admittedly camp at times, but it isn't any moreso than the original Star Wars trilogy, another prominent space opera. Star Wars had plenty of cheesy one liners and camp dialogue to lighten the mood. Star Wars certainly isn't a comedy, and neither is Tytania. Light comedy moments are key to enhance the drama that comes later. If a show is nothing but drama and tragedy, the drama well... It isn't very dramatic.

Unfortunately I have no idea who Michael Bay is, I am Asian, and I live in an Asian country. If you are going to be so critical about an anime series, and if you did not really enjoy it (other than its comedy that is), why are you watching it and being so critical? Then you might be better off watching stuff like, maybe, Bleach. I mean, why watch anime if you are going to just be all picky about it? We watch anime because we enjoy it in some way. Of course, if you found this humorous, I am sure you found other shows boring or whatever and that you probably do not watch (or if you did, enjoyed) most of other anime series.

Then again that would be conjecture on my part. No offense, but you are coming off as some people whom I believe to be watching anime solely to pick on it.

This is anime anyway, the characters were meant to be cartoonish unless you meant it in a derogatory way, referring to it being more of a kids' show. Most of it would be incomprehensible to a kid however.

Also I never bothered watching Transformers either. Well at least not most of it, so even though I know who Bumblebee is, I certainly have not watched that scene.

Panthers last blog post...The Terror - A Year On

Roy: What you said is…kind of odd. How can it even be comedy in the first place? It was space opera yes, but not comedy.

You must have a Michael Bay sense of theatrics if you think of Tytania is a drama. I LOLed at many scenes where they tried to force dramatic elements in. The characters themselves were…forgive me…cartoonish. I would call it amateurish and unintentional comedy, but I think the writers/director were just phoning it in. Hence, campy comedy. By the way, did you ever watch the BumbleBee death scene in Transformers? Now that’s unintentional comedy.

I really don't mean to be so negative about this show. I just don't think it is much of a drama.

Noirsword: Your analogies to RoTK are all wrong! Zarlish is more like Zhang Fei, Guan Yu like Ariabert, and Jouslain like Zhao Yun. However to compare Tytania itself to Shu Han is already wrong. Quite a nice write-up though.

Well, look at how the handled the Hulk/Duke during the last episode. Instead of debilitating him through tranqs or even leg/arm shots, they decide to bum rush him. Out of character for people who were smart enough to plan ahead and set a gas trap for the guy to begin with.

Anyway, it's a silly, fun show. I wouldn't try to ascribe Clannad AS levels of drama to it.

@Roy: What blasphemy do you speak of Tytania? I think the plot execution has been superb, and the battle of wits between Fan and Tytania is serious business. Most of the camp stems from Fan who is himself a goofball, which shows just how differently he thinks and acts compared to the totalitarianism of Tytania. Now off to the space mines of Kessel with you.

>>>Tytania - Real Drama for Real Men

That’s pretty funny. Seriously though, I wouldn’t classify Tytania as a drama. It’s more of a campy space comedy. The plot execution of this show is on the level of To Aru Majutsu no Index. Which is to say, not very good. However, props to the writers for killing off the love interest early on. That was unexpected
