Screencaps are from Bakemonogatari episode 4, all featuring Araragi’s unique cell phone. I’ll let the pictures do the talking and add color commentary as needed.

Two things I love are anime and Star Wars. If asked to pick between the two, I’d probably give a slight edge to Star Wars. Blasphemy for an anime blogger, right? Star Wars is such a mega franchise that mega franchise is an understatement. The expanded universe is downright ridiculous, and the far reach of Star Wars has just about every entertainment medium in its grip… Except anime, which begs the question, “Why isn’t there a Star Wars anime?”.

Oh god, oh god, oh god, oh god. This post doesn’t need any content because Hitagi is the summer’s hawtness. I usually don’t agree with the general otaku populace’s questionable taste in girls, but damn, Hitagi is so hot you need to put on some sun block before getting within a one mile radius of her. Sure she’s a crazy ass bitch, but that’s a huge part of her appeal in addition to the rampant hotness she radiates. Now to lurk the image boards for the inevitable flood of Hitagi pics in the coming weeks…

Shoot, pose, wink, repeat. ^_~
I don’t really have a witty introduction for this rant, but here’s what I have to say about the Valkyria Chronicles anime. It’s kind of long-ish though, so you’ve been warned.

After attending Otakon, I have to say that it was a friggin’ huge convention and was significantly bigger than the local A-Kon I’ve grown accustomed to. I’m also reminded that I have a love-hate relationship with these kinds of things. On the one hand, big cons means more vendors and more events. On the other hand there are crowds and queues for just about everything, even the bathroom at times.
The following is a short recount of my experience, followed by the real reason you’re probably here, pictures and stuff. Here’s the standard 56k disclaimer for whomever is still stuck in the internet’s dinosaur age, because it’s still sort of an obligation to say it. Rally ho then!

After flying halfway across the country to Baltimore, I find myself in unfamiliar territory for the event that the locals here call “Otakon”. I’m jet lagged, disoriented and just generally confused, all before the convention has even started — A promising sign. It’s a bit of a mini culture shock being in another state, as it’s different enough to be somewhat alien, but still similar enough to know that most things are still the same.
At any rate it’s refreshing to attend a new convention, and I’ve always heard Otakon is a blast so I’m looking forward to it. I’ll share my experience here in the coming days as I take in the sights and snap plenty of photos. Noirsword signing out.

Summer, the worst season of the year, is officially underway. The enormous ball of gas known as the sun is shining down on us in all its glory, melting the skin off of those brave enough to endure its scorching heat and harsh ultraviolet rays. The cicadas are doing their cicada thing outside and generally being annoying. All signs point to summer. You could hit up the pool if you’re crazy, but it’s much smarter to stay comfortable indoors and watch the new season of anime. Going outdoors is overrated anyway.
This season I’ll cover first impressions for Bakemonogatari, CANAAN, Fight Ippatsu! Juuden-chan!!, Princess Lover, Umineko no Naku Koro ni, and Zan Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei. In addition, this impressions post will follow… A different format than usual to mix things up a bit.

This is probably something anime fans don’t ask themselves too often, but why do we like anime? I know I obviously like anime since I watch it and have an animu blog, but things get murky when trying to explain why I like it. The first response would be that it entertains me, but that’s still a pretty vague answer.

That’s never really a question you ever think to ask yourself. It’s perfectly normal to assume the ride will last forever, and it does until . . . Well, I’m not quite sure which show it was, but I just remember the ride ending.
