While bringing over some leftovers for Sunohara, Tomoya and Nagisa witness Sunohara enduring Misae’s wrath as they walk into the dorm building. The four then enjoy some tea and conversation in Sunohara’s room, where they learn that Misae’s cat doesn’t have a name.

Determined to get her brother back onto the soccer team, Mei, Nagisa and Tomoya ask the team captain for Sunohara’s reinstatement, but they are flat out refused and ridiculed by the entire team.

Sunohara takes ‘Sanako’ (Sanae) out on their date, and Mei is less than impressed when he takes his new ‘girlfriend’ to his usual haunts. The date is cut short when they see a girl being bullied by a group of boys in the park. Mei keeps Okazaki and Nagisa from interfering, hoping that Sunohara will intervene and save her. However he just stands idly by and writes it off as the growing pains of childhood. Luckily the girl’s brother rushes in and scares the bullies off.

Sunohara decides to get a fake girlfriend to ease Mei’s worries about him and prove that he’s fine on his own. With help from Okazaki he solicits Ryou, Tomoyo, Kotomi and even Yukine to no avail. Help comes from the most unlikely place when Sanae agrees to help Sunohara in his facade, believing that she is guiding him down a better path in life by doing so.

The much anticipated Clannad After Story has started and reintroduces us to most of the main cast with a baseball match of epic proportions. Akio orders Okazaki and Nagisa to assemble the gang for an upcoming baseball match with the neighboring town’s team. Okazaki’s harem of superhuman females is then reassembled along with Sunohara and Yoshino to play some baseball.

Hot on the heels of KyoAni’s Clannad TV adaptation, Toei brings us their version of the Clannad story. Toei’s adaptation of Clannad is an abridged Nagisa arc with all the needless filler secondary girls’ arcs removed. Liberties are taken here and there with the story, but unlike the Air movie, the Clannad movie remains much more faithful to the original story. Toei and KyoAni can’t seem to agree on who should voice Key male leads, because the movie has a different seiyuu voicing Okazaki while everyone else retains their original voice. Obvious spoilers and lots of pictures after the jump.
