Sunohara decides to get a fake girlfriend to ease Mei’s worries about him and prove that he’s fine on his own. With help from Okazaki he solicits Ryou, Tomoyo, Kotomi and even Yukine to no avail. Help comes from the most unlikely place when Sanae agrees to help Sunohara in his facade, believing that she is guiding him down a better path in life by doing so.

I’ve just realized that I’ve been watching quite a large number of shows recently. Since there’s not a lot of space to review each one before looking like a massive wall of text, I’ll just summarize my thoughts.

Briefly.

Pics and stuff ahoy.

Another season, another light novel gets adapted into an anime. This time around, school love comedy Toradora gets the anime treatment. Though I don’t sound too enthusiastic, the first episode of Toradora was pretty enjoyable if somewhat formulaic, as is the standard for this kind of show.

Note:  Yamcha wrote about the same episode a few days back - I’m just here to offer a second opinion.  (That, and a different gallery of screencaps.)

This one has “required viewing” written all over it, so let’s embrace the inevitable and jump right into KyoAni’s entry for the 2008 fall anime season. Whether we actually want to matters not a whit.

To say that there are a lot of shows this season would be a huge understatement. After the obligatory skim through Moetron’s Fall 2008 Chart (pictured below), it looks like there’ll be 48 shows minus the kid’s shows that won’t be seriously followed and excluding OVAs. It’s still a hell of a lot of new stuff to watch though. This is going to be a busy fall for anime fans and bloggers. For me to say that I’ll do impressions of all the new shows is tantamount to blogger suicide. As such I’ve painstakingly selected* which shows to do impressions for based on what interested me the most.

Akane Iro ni Somaru Saka
Casshern Sins
Chaos Head
Hyakko
Kemeko Deluxe
Kurozuka
Shikabane Hime Aka
Toradora!
Tytania
Yozakura Quartet

Whew. Ten shows should be enough. I thought this was a good mix of anticipated shows along with some that will probably slip under the radar with big names like Clannad, ef and Gundam 00 around this season. So expect it soon. I’m sure some of the better blogs out there will cover the rest.

*I actually just assigned shows to numbers and drew them from a hat.

The much anticipated Clannad After Story has started and reintroduces us to most of the main cast with a baseball match of epic proportions. Akio orders Okazaki and Nagisa to assemble the gang for an upcoming baseball match with the neighboring town’s team. Okazaki’s harem of superhuman females is then reassembled along with Sunohara and Yoshino to play some baseball.

Well, that was a lot of fast-pacedness for the last couple of days. I daresay, I rather liked both endings.

MASS SPOILER ALERT AND ALL THAT JAZZ THIS WAY.

The PM-to-be’s unofficial (???) cameo in Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu, episode 6

It’s official.

Japan’s ruling Liberal Democratic Party has picked self-professed manga fan Asou Tarou to succeed outgoing premier Fukuda Yasuo as party president, which puts him squarely on the path to become the country’s first Roman Catholic prime minister.
