Hello there. Somehow, Meu and Yamcha have managed to convince me to get off my lazy ass and do something. I’ve been given the task of more or less being the person who knows Mecha. Fortunately, I am armed with lots of knowledge and love for many real robot shows. Unfortunately, I am not as familiar with as many super robot shows. So, misleading Touhou image aside, expect lots of Mecha-related stuff from me when I stop procrastinating. Not much that I can say about myself that I’d want to share that hasn’t been said on the About page.

Sorry if the previous post offended anyone, which I’ve already taken down because of some complaints. It was meant in jest, but I guess not everyone saw it that way. My apologies to anyone that found the piece to be in poor taste. Talk about a plan that totally backfired…
I hope that everyone has a safe and happy 4th of July. We’ll resume normal posting after the extended holiday.

Writer’s block has struck, so I’ll write a short article about the popular Yu-Gi-Oh: The Abridged Series. Created and almost entirely voiced by Little Kuriboh, this spoof is a sharp and clever jab at both its premise and 4Kids’ horrendous butchering of the show, but everything else in popular culture is fair game too. As the title says, each episode is abridged from the original 24 minutes to anywhere from 5 to 9 minutes in comical fashion.
YGO: TAS is probably best appreciated by those familiar with the 4Kids dub, but I think everyone should be able to enjoy it. There have been several copycat knock-offs (Naruto: TAS, Berserk: TAS) but accept no substitutes, because this is still the best. Go check it out for the lulz. A real post will be up soon.
PS: I happen to think Yu-Gi-Oh is a badass show. Here’s one reason why.
PPS: Yeah, I know I appeased the female readers for once with this picture. Madness!

Happy Father’s Day to all you out there. No updates today except for a final reminder that the trap contest deadline is at midnight (US Eastern). Get your last minute entries in, or else I will withhold my moe pictures from now on and make Sanae cry. You don’t want that to happen, right?

Picture excerpt is from Oh great’s currently running manga, Air Gear. Political agendas in anime and manga? Gasp! They could have been a bit more subtle about it. This November, run to the polls and vote Omaha.

Thanks to Diego for pointing out the comment section had a fatal flaw. The code is now updated to allow comments like it was intended to. I sure do feel like an idiot for not noticing it sooner. To keep things on topic, the backlog is slowly disappearing.
Shana Second is starting to pick up again at episode 19. The problem is that it took way too long to become interesting again. Better late than never, but it just feels like most of the season was wasted time. Maybe it’s because I don’t like Hecate/Konoe, who was the focus in the first half. With all the recent happenings now, it’s strange that the show’s titular character has really felt like a secondary character lately.
Hayate no Gotoku is really feeling like a chore to finish. Chances are slim that I’ll pick up Hayate season 2 unless the last few episodes are epic.
Finally got around to Zoku Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei again. Despair is serious business. The episode 6 seiyuu swapping gag was gold. Surprisingly, Tomokazu Sugita really fits well as Itoshiki-sensei in an odd way.
Watched To Love-Ru, and I actually really like it. The thing is that I don’t even know why I like it. At the very least it’ll be a fun show to keep up with. I’ll try to add a couple more of the new shows to my list as the anime backlog gets shorter.

Oha lucky and Happy Mother’s Day to everyone out there. I hope you all did something nice for your moms today. This blog has hit its sentimentality quota for the week. Wolf Hurricane will now return to its normally scheduled programming. Getting back on track, there will be a nice article up in a couple days.
I suppose I’ll do a plug for my pal over at ZeroXR too. He’s giving away the pricey Aliph Jawbone bluetooth headset to one lucky winner. I’m not dropping a hint or anything, but you could give it to your mom as a belated Mother’s Day present. The criteria? You have to write a haiku! We all love haiku. If you don’t, then something must be wrong with you. Get the full details here. The deadline is May 19th, so don’t procrastinate.

Congratulations to Shigeru Miyamoto for being voted as Time Magazine’s most influential person in 2008. The beloved innovator behind classic franchises such as Mario, Donkey Kong, and Zelda garnered nearly two million votes and finally gets some noteworthy recognition outside of the gaming community. Now all that’s left is a Nobel Prize or something like that…
Full list of results
Totally off tangent afterthought: I wouldn’t be surprised if a religion devoted to Miyamoto popped up within the next 20 years. Now that’s an interesting notion. Count me in if it ever happens.

I’ve really been out of the anime loop lately. So we have an otaku equivalent of Myspace now. I’m shocked. My indifference to social networking sites aside, it really doesn’t look half bad. I might make an account there to see how it is. Anyway finals are coming up, and I’ll slowly write up some things to post in between cram sessions.
Kotobukiaya’s Tamaki Kawazoe figure looks promising so far. The final production won’t live up to the promo pictures, but that won’t stop the Tama fanboys from snatching her up anyway. Also caved on the Alter Haruka Takamori pre-order. It was just too tempting for me to resist. Yamcha is weak!
Before I forget to bring it up, A-kon is coming up at the end of May. I have a love-hate relationship with this convention. Love the fact that vendors can carry a ton of rare merchandise. Hate the fact that there are so many sweaty otaku crowded into one building. Oh well…

I’ve risen from the dead to make a post. After all, Wolf Hurricane isn’t just a place where I write nonsensical blurbs and post cute pictures…
Let’s disregard that statement. There’s no weekly overview again mostly because I don’t feel like it. Well the semester is almost over. Spring classes end to make way for summer classes. I’ll slowly work on a couple reviews as this semester comes to a close. What will they be? That’s a secret for me to know and you to find out.
So I hear Tsukihime is getting a remake. Type-Moon proves that Tsukihime still prints money for them. Crazy Japan and its endless remakes of everything. The game industry has figured out that people don’t want original things. The masses want familiar franchises that are comforting; Originality be damned.
There have been a ton of announcements for gorgeous figures lately. In particular, Alter is really trying to take my money with their beautiful rendition of Haruka Takamori. I’m not familiar with the character but she’s so tempting. Surprisingly, Max Factoy’s pickings are looking a little slim these days aside from the new Figmas. Where’s that long-lost Shiori Misaka?
